Nothing is more memorable than a music-filled weekend. Between the massive crowds at the 2025 Shaky Knees Festival and the casual environment of Eddie’s Attic, Atlanta had some great events that could appeal to any audience.
Shaky Knees Festival 2025
Shaky Knees Music Festival is an annual indie music festival that was founded in 2013. This year, the festival took place at Piedmont Park in Midtown Atlanta. This three-day festival always has a great lineup, and this year’s lineup featured performances from Deftones, The Marias, Cage the Elephant, The All-American Rejects, Blink-182, and a variety of other amazing artists.

Although we unfortunately didn’t get to attend the festival ourselves, we got to live vicariously through our friends. From what we heard, the lineup was worth the hype. My friend Madison shared some of her favorite moments from Shaky Knees. A band that’s been on both of our bucket lists is Cage the Elephant. She said she loved their performance because they sounded great live. Madison was also excited to see Sublime because she grew up listening to their music with her dad.
Overall, Madison said her experience was a ten out of ten because of the atmosphere and vibes. Despite some distance between stages and it being quite dusty, she said it was super fun. Festivals are definitely one of the most exciting ways to experience live music, and seeing photos and video clips from the three days definitely gave us something to look forward to for next year.
Eddie’s Attic: Marshall Crenshaw
While Shaky Knees had exciting and thrilling performances, I opted for a more intimate and low-key live show this past Friday. I spent Friday night with my grandfather and one of his childhood friends at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur for Marshall Crenshaw’s 40 Years in Showbiz Concert.

Crenshaw is best known for his timeless hit “Someday, Someway” and has a unique new wave rock sound. Additionally, he is known by many for his role as John Lennon in Beatlemania in the late 1970’s. My grandfather shared that he loves Crenshaw’s music because of the unique vocals and clear guitar sound. H
e believes that Crenshaw is one of the many examples of how The Beatles have affected music artists over generations.
I love smaller shows because they often introduce me to new artists and styles of music. I really liked James Mastro because he really let his personality shine throughout his performance. All of the songs in his setlist had a story, and his song “Never Die” really resonated with me. James Mastro really connected with the audience that night and showed how unifying music can be.
Final Remarks
September was full of events that reminded us why live music and other shared experiences are what brings energy and warmth into our lives. Whether it’s discovering new artists, finding a cool venue, or spending time with friends or family, events are what bring people together. As we head into October, The Weekend Edit will be here to share Fall ideas and inspiration for unique and unforgettable Fall festivities.
